Strength is a key part of eliminating pain and quality of life

I am having a very interesting and exciting experience with a few chronic pain clients that has brought me back to such a simple idea.

There is no substitute for pure freaking strength!

Strong bodies generally don't hurt.

Of course my definition of strong is different from the general population but I think the message is clear here.

I've never assessed a person in chronic pain that I would consider strong.

In the past few months I've been working very closely with a client using a 1-rep, isometric, strength training program.

A past injury history has manifested itself in the form of very "blurry" muscle and movement maps.

When your brain can't map things it makes everything threatening.

If serious, most interventions usually stop working at a certain point because the demand to move becomes too energy expensive when the basic framework does not exist.

Now there is a more complicated brain-based reason for why we have been focusing on strength through intense isolated muscle contraction.

And, it's not as simple as just doing it.

We are targeting specific areas for a reason.

Once again, everyone is different.

The key is finding the right entry point to helping a person.

In the past 2 months of strength training my client has reduced pain, improved breathing, improved visual skills, improved balance, improved her overall movement options and told me she feels nicer and happier.

Are you kidding!?

All from getting stronger and using the correct modality in exactly the right fashion.

It's so fascinating to watch people improve when given the right tools and resources.

I love it when the basics come back around full circle.

There is no substitute for STRONG!

At TMP we can help you reclaim strength to improve your life in the way that you personally need.
