How do you own your mobility gains long-term?

People are becoming more educated on the importance of mobility.

The evolution of the health and fitness industry is currently happening faster than ever.

With that, comes an opportunity for some to make a lot of money on people who might not know the truth, yet.

Here is the truth:

We are still without literature that states that tissue can be changed by external forces.

Ask a surgeon what they think about "changing tissue" with a lacrosse ball.

Remember, they need a scalpel and sometimes heavy machinery.

So, what are people really accomplishing when they aimlessly dig things into their body such as a ball, stick, foam roll or weird gizmo with wheels?

The answer is probably NOTHING that will yield a long-term result.

Real gains in mobility come from working with a persons nervous system holistically.

They also come from frequently performing active mobility drills that improve our gait process.

It's the improved movement over time that creates enough force for our nervous system to find it logical to improve mobility and tissue health.

The brain has an excellent safety system.

If a person does not have ownership (in a variety of ways) over their movement the brain will not grant them use of the range of motion.

This is true in the context of movement but most do not realize that our internal health plays a huge role here as well!

I write about this concept a lot.

Muscles do not get to choose to be tight.

Those decisions are made by higher order systems!

Now you know a little bit more about why digging a ball into your hip only seems to help temporarily.
