What you need to know about blood pressure to make better decisions

Did you hear?! The American heart association just released it’s new guidelines that redefine classification of having high blood pressure.

According to these brand new guidelines people with 130 (top number) over 80 (bottom number) are now considered to have high blood pressure. High blood pressure used to be defined as 140/90.

The change means that 46 percent of U.S. adults will now be identified with having high blood pressure.

This could obviously be positive or negative depending on how you look at it!

The main question that arises in my mind is - how much more medication will get prescribed now? Or, perhaps people will listen to the their warning signs and it might help them become more proactive. I really don’t know.

So let’s control the controllable right now! Here’s what I want you to know about blood pressure. You deserve to be in the “know."

Blood pressure NEEDS to be taken on both sides!  You’ve probably never had this done! You would have to request this at your doctors office like I do. It’s always an educational experience FOR THEM! I’ll stop there. But, you’d like to be a fly on the wall for sure!

You can have very significant differences in BP side to side. In which case you might not have high cardiovascular generated blood pressure but instead neurologically generated high blood pressure!

The big concern for me is that about half of our clients have neurologically generated high blood pressure on one side and dysregulated metabolics. That’s why they see us. Because other things weren’t helping them and it turns out their metabolic dysregulation was one of the reasons why they need a professional who can help.

Why does this matter?

Because the last person who walked through our door with neurological high blood pressure assumed they had it on both sides.

After one strategically planned exercise it normalized! It took 60 sec. And this happens almost every day at TMP!

This is a very different and manageable presentation of High BP.

The reason for this post is to simply educate people on side to side specificity of blood pressure readings. You deserve to know!
