Vision and breath training post-double lung transplant

Using applied neurology to retrain breathing and vision from Taylor Kruse on Vimeo.

Some people are clients.

Some people are students.

I jokingly say to my students, "I'm trying to entertain you long enough so that I can really help you!"

Because, real changes in health don't come from a single session.

They come from self-commitment, learning to be present, and focusing on the task at hand.

Corey is a student with the relentless will to get better.

All my interactions with Corey are special like this one.

So much reward.

Corey has been recovering from a double lung transplant.

We are spending a great deal of time retraining his breathing and visual skills.

Since the eyes and the lungs are midline structures of the body, they are intimately connected and you will often see midline problems when there has been serious injury or trauma to other midline structures.

In the video we are using a high performance breathing drill to retrain the coordination and stabilization of Corey's eyes!

Breathing and gaze stabilization are two of the most important human skills.

The breathing drill creates a neurological platform giving us the opportunity to retrain visual skills that otherwise weren't cooperating.

Creating results is about making sure the signals are strong enough to reach the necessary areas of the brain.

Figuring out which screw to turn instead of turning them all is the driver of success.

Don't forget to see Corey working on his plyometrics in the video below. The high impact of jumping and landing activates certain receptor types that he has deficits with.

What if I told you that jumping/landing improved his breathing!?

It's all connected.

Everything with a purpose and for a reason!
