The most important factor to consider for chronically tight muscles

TENSION = PROTECTION. Chronic tension is the nervous system trying to protect itself.

Have you ever experienced chronically tight muscles? The kind of tension that just doesn’t go away and it drives you crazy!

That tension is there for a reason. We must ask the question, “why?” Many people fall into a trap at this point - “If something is tight, why don’t I just obliterate it and make the tightness go away?”  Not a good idea!

Muscles don’t get to choose to be tight. Those decisions are made by higher order systems. Trying to remove chronic tension from the body through relentless stretching/mobilizing often does more harm then good.

So remember, chronic tension is the nervous system attempting to put the breaks on your performance for your own protection! At TMP, we ask “why?” And this is one of the reasons why we can help people with so many different issues, when other things didn’t seem to help.
