Insight into the ongoing battle of intellectual property in fitness

Uncategorized Apr 05, 2017

A push up is just a push up.

A squat is just a squat.

Movements like these are all part of basic human performance.

We didn't discover them.

They were given to us as a gift.

They don't belong to anyone.

They were already there for us.

There are only so many ways that we can move.

Get too complicated and pay the price of trying to reverse engineer an already perfect system.

There are many smart but scared people in our health and fitness industry.

Some feeling angry that others are stealing their work.

My thought is, if your life's' work is easy enough to steal, was there much rationale or thought behind it in the first place?

And, how did you get it?

Anyone can go on YouTube and learn some great exercises.

What makes a persons' philosophy unique and special is the rationale and level of thinking behind it.

We are all inspired by our mentors and colleagues.

We explore new ideas.

Grab hold of the ones that work for us and discard of the ones that don't.

The result becomes the uniqueness that represents our personal craft and philosophy.

The rationale and thinking that you use protects your intellectual property.

The people who learn from you pay you the ultimate compliment by doing so.

And, the cycle continues as we look for our next inspiration.

In the process, we all contribute to finding the good in fitness, together - and helping it rise.
