Are you motivating or enabling your clients?

Are your clients renting your motivation?

This is perfectly acceptable at first.

People want to work with you because they see a healthy, motivated, intelligent professional and they want to feel these feelings too.

But beware!

If you continue to allow them to rent your motivation it will likely backfire for all.

You must gracefully begin educating them on behavior change and motivation.

These are the qualities we need to successfully pursue health and fitness long-term. Otherwise, you are enabling the person in the long run.

Now here's the catch!

The idea of behavior change might be the most threatening thing you ever introduce to a client!

Timing is critical.

If you introduce your education at the wrong time (too soon) you could cause a catastrophic meltdown and send them running the other direction!

This is how brains work.

The art of client education is a massive undertaking and challenge.

Remember, people (their brains) are predisposed to stay exactly the way they are. By design.

So the trick is finding the right entry point.

One that is non-threatening so that the persons' improvements will actually indirectly support their improved interoception.

Interoception is awareness of internal body and feelings. It's a huge part of behavior change. And yes, you can "exercise" interoception if you know how.

At TMP, we use our understanding of interoception and the brain to exercise the right areas that correspond with improved interoception.

This oftentimes leads to very scalable behavior changes without even having that threatening conversation about habit change!

You thought the challenge was finding the problems...

You thought the challenge was picking the right exercises...

You thought the challenge was getting your clients to use proper form...

Those are the easy parts.

Creating CHANGE is the challenge!
